Many of the ebooks available from EBSCO are pdf files.  The first thing you need to do if you are unable to open the pdf is determine which browser you are using.  On the AU campus we use Firefox.

Here is a link to a very brief video that shows the steps to change Adobe Acrobat and PDF settings in Firefox.  You will need to change all Adobe Acrobat and Portable Document Format options listed in the Applications menu to "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)."
